Jonathan Friel

Education

Experience

Assistant District Attorney, State of North Carolina, 31st District, 2007 – 2019. 

Lieutenant Colonel (2022- Present), U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General’s Corp, 2008 – Present. 

Jonathan is an honors graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law and has been practicing law for over fourteen years.  Before entering private practice, he spent many years in public service. 

After over a decade serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Winston-Salem, Jonathan founded Friel Law in 2020.  As a long-time prosecutor he tried numerous jury trials in Superior Court on charges ranging from DWI to First Degree Murder.  

Jonathan is also a JAG Officer with the rank of Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.  He has prior experience as an active duty military prosecutor at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Paralegal

Kate Norton

Kate grew up in Washington State and attended Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics in 2005. She has lived all over the country and decided to make Forsyth county her home in 2016. She joined Friel Law in 2021.

In her spare time, Kate enjoys being with her family, teaching piano, and serving on board positions in her church and community.
